Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced UPS Service Sales Account Manager to join a leading organisation within the critical power and electrical infrastructure sector.
This role is ideal for a commercially driven individual with experience in UPS service sales, critical power systems, or field engineering who enjoys developing customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and delivering tailored service solutions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and growing service sales across an established customer base while supporting clients with preventative maintenance solutions, lifecycle planning, and technical service agreements.
Key Responsibilities
Service Sales & Business Development
- Proactively sell preventative maintenance (PPM) contracts, 24/7 emergency response agreements, and extended warranty packages to both new and existing customers
- Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities including battery replacements, capacitor overhauls, and additional service solutions from field service activity and reports
- Generate new business opportunities within critical power and electrical infrastructure environments
- Build and maintain strong relationships with facility managers, procurement teams, and key customer stakeholders
- Manage contract renewals and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention
Commercial & Technical Support
- Prepare commercial quotations and service proposals aligned with customer requirements
- Negotiate pricing and close sales while achieving Gross Profit (GP) and Operating Profit (OP) targets
- Provide technical and budgetary guidance to customers regarding UPS lifecycle planning and risk mitigation strategies
- Support customers in maintaining resilient power infrastructure and minimising downtime risks
- Maintain awareness of market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments across the UK critical power sector
Account Management & Customer Engagement
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers across service and maintenance agreements
- Work collaboratively with internal service, engineering, and commercial teams
- Attend customer meetings and site visits as required across the Southwest and Midlands regions
- Ensure all activity is managed in line with Health & Safety, Environmental, and company compliance standards
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within service sales OR 5+ years’ hands-on field engineering experience within critical power environments
- Strong knowledge of UPS systems, batteries, data centre infrastructure, or related electrical power systems
- Commercial understanding of business-critical electrical infrastructure including single-phase and three-phase UPS systems
- Experience preparing quotations, negotiating contracts, and managing customer accounts
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Financial awareness with the ability to manage margins and commercial targets
- Good IT and computer literacy skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a field-based environment
- Strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance standards
- Full UK Driving Licence required
Qualifications
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering highly desirable
