Head of Marketing

Location: South Cambridge / North Essex

Reporting to: Head of Defence Sales

The Role

Matchtech are working with a Technology business who are seeking an experienced Head of Marketing to develop, lead, and implement a company-wide marketing strategy.

This senior role involves managing a small but highly effective marketing team and plays a key part in driving growth across multiple technology-led sectors.

The primary focus of the position is market-qualified lead generation within the Defence & Security sector, supported by broader marketing activity across adjacent markets including Space & Satellite, healthcare, Internet of Things, and automotive.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive proactive lead generation through targeted brand awareness initiatives
• Develop and lead Defence-focused marketing campaigns to support engineering services and accelerate growth into product delivery
• Identify and analyse market trends to guide and support sales activities
• Define and maintain target prospect companies within the Defence market
• Conduct competitor and market analysis
• Increase brand awareness and value across key internal and external platforms, including conferences, websites, blogs, social media, and PR
• Ensure alignment of sales and marketing materials, including capabilities statements and case studies
• Work closely with technical leadership to translate market insight into IP and technology roadmap development
• Manage all public relations activities, including representing the organisation at international events as required
• Oversee the effective use of marketing tools such as SEO, analytics, and performance tracking
• Identify, appoint, and manage external marketing agencies or partners where necessary

Candidate Profile

• Experience working within the Defence market
• An honours degree with a Marketing qualification (a STEM background is desirable)
• Experience leading a marketing function within a technology or engineering-led business
• A proactive, commercially focused professional with the ability to drive change and deliver immediate impact
