NEW OPPORTUNITY – Energy Manager

We’re working with North Northamptonshire Council on an exciting interim opportunity within the Council’s Energy team. This is a key leadership role focused on driving forward the authority’s energy, carbon reduction, and net zero agenda.

You will lead the Council’s energy function, overseeing utilities, budgets, and a range of decarbonisation and renewable energy projects. This includes delivering initiatives such as solar PV, battery storage, and EV infrastructure, while also shaping the wider energy and climate strategy.

You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure effective reporting, delivery, and long-term sustainability outcomes.

Role Details

Contract: 3 months initially

Rate: Negotiable (Inside IR35, via umbrella)

Location: North Northamptonshire (2 days onsite / 3 days remote)

Start: ASAP

Role Summary

Lead the Council’s energy function, managing utilities, budgets, and carbon reduction programmes. Deliver renewable energy and energy efficiency projects (e.g. solar PV, battery storage, EV infrastructure), develop the energy and climate strategy, and report to senior stakeholders.

Key Requirements

• Experience in energy management within a local authority or wider public sector setting
• Proven track record delivering energy efficiency or decarbonisation projects
• Strong understanding of renewable energy, net zero, and carbon reduction initiatives
• Experience managing contracts, budgets, and senior stakeholder relationships
