Accounts Administrator
Location: YO7 (just outside Thirsk)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 30–40 hours per week (minimum 30 hours / 4 days)
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm (flexible)
Start Date: Flexible
Note: Due to our rural location, own transport is essential
About the Role We are looking for a reliable and organised Accounts Administrator to join our small, friendly office near Thirsk. This is a varied role that combines core accounting responsibilities with general administrative support. You will play a key part in keeping day-to-day financial operations running smoothly while supporting colleagues across the business.
Key Responsibilities - Purchase ledger processing
- Sales ledger processing
- Payment allocations and credit control
- Preparing weekly and monthly BACS payment runs
- Processing simple journals and supporting basic bookkeeping tasks
- Acting as a point of contact for customers, suppliers, and clients via phone and email
- Providing general administrative support and assisting colleagues as required
About You To be successful in this role, you will be highly organised, proactive, and confident working both independently and as part of a team.
Essential:
- Minimum 2 years’ accounts experience
- AAT Level 2 (or equivalent)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage professionally at all levels
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks
- Professional, flexible, and team-oriented approach
- Understanding of confidentiality in a finance environment
Desirable:
- Experience using accounting software (Microsoft AX preferred, but not essential – training will be provided)
What We Offer - Salary: £27,000 – £32,000 per annum (depending on experience)
