THE ROLE

An established independent accountancy practice in Salisbury, Wiltshire is looking for a Senior Accountant to take genuine operational leadership of the firm.

This is a hands-on, high-influence role: you'll lead the team, own the quality of client work, and work directly with the practice owner on the firm's development and long-term succession.

The practice is smaller than where you may have come from - and that's precisely the point. You'll know your clients. You'll know your team. And you'll have the authority to shape both. A clear route to Directorship exists within 3–5 years, with real ownership potential for the right person.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee accounts, review and advisory work across the client base
• Lead, support and develop the team with clear expectations and genuine care
• Take accountability for workflow, quality control and operational standards
• Address performance issues early and constructively
• Improve processes and bring greater structure to the day-to-day running of the practice
• Work with the owner on strategy, growth and succession planning

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• ACA or ACCA qualified
• Solid post-qualification experience in practice -ideally from a regional or larger firm background
• Genuine leadership capability, not just technical seniority
• Comfortable with accountability and the occasional difficult conversation
• Someone who values relationships - with clients and colleagues alike
• Based in or commutable to Salisbury; this is a predominantly office-based role

• Salary: £55,000 – £70,000+ depending on experience
