Gavin Kendall from Reed Practice is partnering with a leading independent accountancy firm with a strong reputation for excellence and continued growth, in the search for an experienced Tax Manager to lead their Personal Tax offering in Scarborough.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong and commercially minded tax professional to take ownership of a key department, combining hands-on client advisory work with team leadership and strategic input.
The Opportunity
As Tax Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and developing the firm’s Personal Tax function. You will lead from the front, providing expert advice to clients while mentoring and developing a growing team.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of Tax Seniors and Trainees, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration
• Acting as a trusted adviser to a diverse client base, including individuals, partnerships, trusts, and estates
• Identifying and delivering complex tax planning opportunities and providing technical expertise on bespoke advisory projects
• Overseeing personal tax compliance processes and ensuring the highest standards across client portfolios
• Managing HMRC enquiries and compliance checks with confidence and professionalism
• Driving operational efficiency through effective billing management and WIP reviews
Gavin is keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a tax-focused role within practice or a similar professional environment
• ATT / CTA qualified (or equivalent), or working towards qualification
• Strong technical expertise in personal tax
• Proven experience in leading or mentoring teams
• A client-focused approach, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
• Commercial awareness and a proactive mindset
