An established UK engineering and project delivery business is seeking a Health & Safety Officer to support the safe, compliant delivery of installation, refurbishment and maintenance works across construction projects and live operational environments.

This role offers a hybrid working model, combining office presence, home working and regular UK site visits (around 2-3 per month). You will work closely with operational leadership, project teams, contractors and clients to embed strong health & safety standards across a varied project portfolio.

Location & Working Pattern

• Office based in Greater Manchester (2 days per week)
• Remote working (3 days per week)
• UK travel to project sites and meetings (2-3 Per Month)

Salary & Benefits

• £35,000 - £40,000 (dependent on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Promote a positive and proactive health & safety culture across all site activities
• Ensure compliance with UK legislation including the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and CDM Regulations 2015
• Support the development, implementation and ongoing review of H&S policies and procedures
• Liaise with Principal Contractors, clients and consultants on health & safety matters
• Prepare, review and update RAMS
• Identify hazards associated with live construction and maintenance environments
• Ensure appropriate control measures are implemented and followed on site
• Conduct regular site inspections and internal audits
• Report findings, track actions and monitor corrective and preventative measures
• Support external audits and inspections by clients or enforcing authorities
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses
• Maintain accurate accident records and support RIDDOR reporting where required
• Deliver toolbox talks, site inductions and safety briefings
• Identify training needs and support workforce competence
• Engage operatives and supervisors in safety discussions and behavioural safety initiatives

You will need

• Previous experience within the construction sector
• A recognised Health and Safety qualification
• Comfortable working across live environments and operational sites
• Confident engaging with contractors, site teams and senior stakeholders
• Organised, practical and able to work autonomously
