Learning Support Assistant

Hourly Rate: £15.55 to £17.01

Location: South East London

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team, providing essential learning and accessibility support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role is crucial in facilitating access to learning programmes, college services, and activities, while also supporting personal development and educational outcomes aligned with individual Educational Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).

Day-to-day of the role:

Provide person-centred learning support to learners with severe and complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

Support may include assisting with personal care and mobility as necessary.

Work with individuals or small groups to encourage engagement with activities and independent work.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with learners, teachers, parents/carers, and other agencies involved with the students.

Contribute to the personal development of learning/study skills and educational outcomes relevant to individual EHCPs.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Good literacy and numeracy skills.

Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment.

Strong understanding of safeguarding, discrimination issues, and the challenges faced by those with learning difficulties.

Willingness to assist learners with personal care and mobility as required.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish good working relationships.

Exceptional organisational skills combined with proficient IT knowledge and sound administration skills.

Experience of working with SEN learners in a secondary or Further Education environment is desirable.
