Sharp Consultancy are delighted to be working with a well established and highly respected Sheffield based business is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Financial Controller to join its senior leadership structure.


The business continues to invest in its operations, people, and future growth, creating an excellent opportunity for a Financial Controller looking to play a key role in driving performance and supporting strategic development.


Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with the Senior Management Team, the Financial Controller will take full responsibility for the finance function while also contributing operationally to improve efficiencies, strengthen reporting, and support wider business objectives.


The Role

This is a broad and influential position suited to a hands on finance leader who enjoys working closely with operational teams and senior stakeholders. You will provide accurate financial insight, maintain robust financial controls, and help drive continuous improvement across the organisation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for the company accounts function
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
  • Driving operational efficiencies and improving business performance
  • Acting as a key business partner to the Managing Director and Senior Management Team
  • Monitoring KPIs and supporting strategic planning
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Managing year-end accounts and liaising with external accountants/auditors
  • Delivering meaningful financial analysis to support commercial decision-making
  • Developing and improving finance processes, systems, and controls

About You

  • Qualified or qualified by experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance position
  • Strong commercial and operational awareness
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence across the business
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or SME environments would be advantageous
