We're working confidentially with a well-established and fast-growing accountancy practice who are looking to add an Assistant Accountant to their team. This role would suit someone with 1-2 years' experience in practice who is actively studying AAT and keen to broaden their exposure beyond pure processing.

Your new role

Working as part of a friendly and experienced team, you'll support a varied client portfolio and gain hands-on exposure across bookkeeping, VAT and management accounts. This is a client-facing role with plenty of scope to develop your technical skills and progress within the firm.
Responsibilities will include:

• Day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
• Bank and control account reconciliations
• Preparation of VAT returns
• Assisting with monthly and quarterly management accounts
• Reviewing bookkeeping entries and resolving queries
• Supporting clients with cloud accounting software
• Liaising with HMRC when required

What you'll need to succeed

• 1-2 years' experience within an accountancy practice
• Studying AAT (Level 2, 3 or early Level 4)
• Exposure to bookkeeping and VAT
• Familiarity with cloud software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
• Good Excel skills and strong attention to detail
• Confident communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude
