Job Description – Key Stage 2 Teacher (Temporary, 1 Year Contract)

Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and reflective Key Stage 2 Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school on a one-year temporary contract. Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the National Curriculum for Key Stage 2.
  • Differentiate effectively to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND, EAL, and higher-attaining learners.
  • Use a range of assessment strategies to monitor progress and inform future teaching.
  • Create a stimulating and well-organised classroom environment that supports learning and positive behaviour.

Assessment & Progress

  • Track and assess pupil progress regularly, maintaining accurate records.
  • Provide constructive feedback to pupils to support their development.
  • Contribute to whole-school assessment processes and pupil progress meetings.

Behaviour & Safeguarding

  • Implement the school’s behaviour policy consistently to promote a positive and respectful classroom culture.
  • Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection at all times.
  • Ensure pupils feel safe, valued, and supported in their learning environment.

Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and leadership teams.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities and contribute to continuous school improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers regarding pupil progress and wellbeing.

Wider School Contribution

  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities where appropriate.
  • Support the ethos and values of the school community.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 2 (including ECT placements).
  • Strong knowledge of the KS2 National Curriculum.
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, and behaviour.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working in a similar primary setting.
  • Knowledge of effective strategies for supporting SEND pupils.
  • Experience with assessment frameworks and data tracking.
  • Willingness to contribute to wider school life and enrichment activities.
