Our partner school in North Manchester is seeking a dynamic and hardworking Qualified Teacher to join the team this September. This role focuses on supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) within a curriculum model that mirrors primary-style delivery. Responsibilities
  • Lead a specific class group, delivering a bespoke curriculum tailored to students functioning at Early Years to Year 3 developmental levels.
  • Design and execute practical, hands-on lessons that utilise a spiral curriculum to reinforce student knowledge through repetition.
  • Oversee a team of teaching assistants to ensure high-quality, coordinated support for all learners in the classroom.
  • Create and adapt sensory-based learning resources to engage students with limited communication or physical mobility.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress, feeding directly into annual EHCP reviews and individual learning targets.
  • Promote personal development by teaching essential life skills that encourage community participation and independence.
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing classroom atmosphere that celebrates the individual personality and achievements of every pupil.
  • Collaborate with external therapists and families to ensure a holistic approach to each student's education and well-being.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a proven track record in a UK specialist or inclusive setting.
  • An enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the update service (or a willingness to process a new application)
  • Experience or a strong professional interest in teaching students with PMLD and severe learning difficulties.
  • Ability to deliver creative, active lessons that cater to a wide range of sensory and physical needs.
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate a classroom support team.
  • Deep understanding of the Engagement Model and P-Levels for assessing students working below national curriculum levels.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and the ability to maintain a protective environment for vulnerable young people.
  • Resilient and patient nature, with a genuine interest in long-term student development.
