Legal Counsel/Solicitor (Commercial) – University – Predominantly Remote Working – Initial 6 months+ – Competitive Rate

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently recruiting for a Commercial Solicitor/Legal Counsel to join a University on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative in-house legal team and advise on a broad range of commercial and Higher Education matters.

Role Details
Working Arrangement: Predominantly remote working, flexible hours up to full-time
Rate: Competitive hourly rate (umbrella)
Contract Length: Initial 6 months+
Start: As soon as possible

Role Responsibilities:
• Advising on and drafting a wide range of commercial contracts including supplier agreements, collaboration agreements and partnership arrangements
• Supporting on research-related contracts and strategic commercial projects
• Providing pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice to senior stakeholders across the University
• Assisting with wider Higher Education legal matters including governance, regulatory compliance, and occasional employment or student-related matters
• Supporting the wider in-house legal function on a variety of legal and commercial issues

Candidate Requirements:
• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (or equivalent) with experience in Commercial Contracts Law
• Previous Higher Education or public sector experience is highly desirable
• Experience drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements
• Ability to manage a varied caseload independently and provide pragmatic legal advice
