Donations Processing Officer - Charity

Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
Contract: Temporary – 10 weeks - with possible extension
Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour

Location: Outside Reading - Office Based

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and numerate individual to join our donations processing team on a temporary basis. This role plays a vital part in ensuring donations are accurately processed, recorded, and allocated in line with financial and business rules, supporting the organisation’s fundraising activities.

You will work in a busy office environment handling high volumes of donations and financial data, liaising with colleagues to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review donations and supporting documentation, accurately allocating income to the correct campaign, cost centre, product, and donor on CRM and/or finance systems
  • Upload and process donation data feeds from third-party platforms, direct debits, and banked income
  • Set up and maintain donor records accurately on the CRM system
  • Process credit card donations in line with financial and business procedures
  • Receive, handle, and reconcile cash, cheques, CAF vouchers, and other donation items, ensuring appropriate controls are followed
  • Reconcile donations to the accounting system and ensure prompt banking
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues on donation processing, receipting, and financial rules

Essential skills and experience:

  • Good level of financial competence and numeracy
  • Proven experience of bank reconciliations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills

Desirable:

  • Experience using finance and/or fundraising systems
  • Knowledge of CRM systems
  • Understanding of the charity or not-for-profit sector
