The Role

An established manufacturing business is seeking an experienced HR Manager to take full ownership of the HR function. This is a highly visible, hands-on role combining strategic input with day-to-day delivery, working closely with senior leaders and employees across both shopfloor and professional environments.


Reporting to the Managing Director, you will act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team while remaining accessible and pragmatic in your approach.


Key Responsibilities
  • Full ownership of the HR function

  • End-to-end recruitment and onboarding

  • Employee relations and case management

  • Performance management and appraisal frameworks

  • Compensation and benefits administration

  • Learning, training and development

  • HR strategy, policy development and continuous improvement

  • Employment law compliance and best practice

  • Culture, engagement and retention initiatives

  • Acting as a key link between management and employees

  • Driving improvements to HR systems, processes and data


About You

  • Proven experience at HR Manager or HR Business Partner level

  • Comfortable operating in a manufacturing or shopfloor-led environment

  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law

  • Confident influencing senior stakeholders with credibility and judgement

  • Calm, professional, ethical and highly confidential

  • Pragmatic, organised and detail-oriented

  • CIPD Level 5 preferred (or equivalent experience)

  • Strong Excel skills; HRIS exposure desirable

  • Enjoys being visible on site and rolling sleeves up when needed


Salary & Benefits

  • £50,000 - £55,000 basic salary plus bonus

  • 33 days' holiday including bank holidays (increasing with service)

Working Pattern
  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday-Thursday: 8:00am-4:30pm

  • Friday: 8:00am-1:00pm

  • Fully office-based
