Interim Theatres & Critical Care Programme Manager

We are supporting an NHS organisation in Surrey to appoint an experienced Programme Manager to lead the development of two major strategic capital schemes: a new theatre block and the expansion of Critical Care capacity.

This is a high-profile role within the Surgery Division, requiring a credible operational leader who can bring together clinical, estates and corporate stakeholders to shape and deliver complex business cases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end development of strategic capital business cases for theatres and critical care expansion
  • Provide programme leadership across multiple workstreams, including design, clinical pathways, workforce modelling and mobilisation
  • Develop and manage key documentation including SOC/OBC/FBC, project plans, risk logs and governance papers
  • Engage effectively with clinical, operational, estates and ICB stakeholders to ensure alignment and delivery
  • Monitor progress, manage risks and ensure delivery against tight timelines and strategic objectives
  • Support pathway redesign and service development to ensure the programmes deliver sustainable clinical and operational benefits
Key Requirements:
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale capital or transformation programmes within the NHS
  • Strong track record of developing strategic business cases (SOC/OBC/FBC)
  • Significant operational leadership experience within an acute Trust setting
  • Ideally experience within Theatres, Surgery or Critical Care services
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at senior level
  • Ability to manage complex programmes, competing priorities and tight deadlines

This role would suit a senior operational or programme professional with a strong NHS background who can hit the ground running and drive forward critical infrastructure and service transformation priorities.
