The Company:
A rapidly expanding, technology driven Marketing Agency which specialises in Digital Marketing in to the sports industry.
They are based in central London with an expectation that all employee's will be office based twice per month, the rest can be worked from home.
The Role:
Joining a team of 4, reporting directly in to the Finance Director, this is a broad and interesting opportunity for someone to help shape the Finance function as the company continues to grow.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Control
- Own the end-to-end month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of management accounts across multiple entities.
- Prepare monthly management accounts packs including detailed variance analysis, commentary, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain full balance sheet integrity through timely reconciliations and robust month-end controls.
- Prepare and post month-end journals including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, payroll, and intercompany entries.
- Assist with maintaining rolling cash flow forecasts, monitoring liquidity requirements and foreign currency funding needs.
- Support annual budgeting and reforecasting processes in partnership with departmental budget holders.
- Ensure all financial records remain audit-ready and compliant with internal controls and accounting standards.
Accounts Payable & Operational Finance
- Ensure supplier invoices are accurately processed, approved, and paid on time.
- Process supplier payment runs and corporate card transactions, ensuring appropriate coding and authorisation controls are maintained.
- Manage staff expenses processes, ensuring compliance with company policies and correct VAT treatment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes, systems, and reporting.
Tax, Audit & Compliance
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring accurate VAT treatment and reconciliation requirements are met.
- Lead the annual external audit process and act as the primary point of contact for auditors.
- Coordinate and manage the annual R&D tax credit claim process alongside external advisors.
- Maintain compliance across international entities, liaising with overseas accountants and advisors regarding local tax, payroll, and statutory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, pension requirements, and other statutory obligations.
Business Partnering & Leadership
- Partner with department heads and senior management to provide financial insight, challenge assumptions, and support decision-making.
- Support strategic finance initiatives including forecasting, scenario modelling, and business planning.
- Provide guidance to other finance staff to drive accountability and continuous improvement within the finance function
About You:
We are looking for an experienced Accountant who enjoys being 'hands on' with the numbers. Ideally with a background in an SME environment. We are open minded on Qualifications, ACCA, CIMA or QBE could all be succesful with this business. There is also an opportunity for line management to be included in this role but previous experience in a leadership role is not essential.
