Senior Software Engineer - Java / Python/ AWS

Location: London, Victoria Embankment (5 days onsite)
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Day rate: Circa £750 per day (Inside IR35)

A leading global financial services organisation is seeking a Senior Java / Python Engineer to join a high-performing Asset Management Research Technology team in London. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative cloud and AI-driven platforms within a fast-paced agile engineering environment.

You will play a key role in developing scalable, secure, and cloud-native applications while contributing to cutting-edge AI initiatives, including RAG-based semantic search and LLM workflows.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience with Java and Python development
• Advanced knowledge of AWS cloud services and cloud-native architecture
• Experience designing, building, testing, and supporting enterprise-scale applications
• Hands-on expertise developing secure, high-quality production code
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices and SDLC
• Experience working within Agile engineering teams
• Knowledge of AI/ML technologies and intelligent application development
• Experience with RAG-based semantic search and LLM inference workflows
• Exposure to OpenAI and Claude models
• Ability to independently solve complex technical and design challenges
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical discipline

Preferred Experience

• Proven experience owning solutions end-to-end in an individual contributor role
• Ability to influence technical direction and engineering decisions
• Passion for emerging technologies and continuous improvement
