Due to the partnership between Hays and Birmingham City Council, we are looking to recruit a Community Engagement Officer to provide education and receive feedback from Birmingham Residents in relation to the roll-out of new waste processes. We are looking for enthusiastic and resilient Community Engagement Officers to support a major city-wide waste transformation programme. You will be part of an exciting food waste pilot. This role focuses on engaging directly with residents, businesses, schools, and community groups to support changes to waste services, including the introduction of food waste collections and a move to bi-weekly bin collections.This role is initially for 3 months, with the possibility of this being extended or turning into a permanent opportunity.
The main responsibilities of this role include:

• Engaging with communities through events, shops, schools and local outreach
• Educating residents and businesses about food waste collections and service changes
• Gathering feedback from the public and feeding insights back to the transformation team
• Supporting ongoing service improvements as normal waste collections resume
• Representing the council at community events to raise awareness and engagement

• To be a confident communicator with strong relationship-building skills
• Be proactive, resilient and comfortable working independently
• Be well-organised and able to manage your own diary and workload
• Be trustworthy and professional when representing the council
• Be passionate about community engagement and environmental impact
