Cancer Improvement Lead (Band 8c equivalent)

Day Rate: Competitive
Duration: 6–9 months (initial)
We are supporting an NHS Trust to appoint an experienced Cancer Improvement Lead to drive performance improvement across cancer pathways during a critical period of transformation.
This role requires a hands-on, delivery-focused individual who can work closely with operational teams in a project-led capacity, using data and insight to identify challenges, implement change, and improve performance against key targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside operational and clinical teams to assess current cancer pathway performance
- Analyse PTL, RTT and cancer data to identify risks, bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement
- Lead targeted improvement initiatives to enhance patient flow, reduce backlogs and improve compliance
- Apply structured project methodologies to deliver measurable and sustainable outcomes
- Support the Trust’s upcoming EPR implementation, ensuring pathway improvements align with future system design
- Provide clear reporting, governance and stakeholder engagement at senior level
Key Requirements:
- Strong experience in cancer services improvement within the NHS
- Proven ability to deliver performance improvement in a project or transformation capacity
- Advanced analytical skills, with experience working directly with operational datasets
- Ability to influence and work collaboratively with operational, clinical and executive stakeholders
- Experience supporting or working alongside system implementations is highly desirable
- Background in consultancy, transformation or interim leadership roles preferred
