Senior Accountant

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to support the Finance and Reporting Manager and wider finance function of a fast-paced, private equity–backed business. The role will play a key part in maintaining strong financial controls, delivering timely and accurate reporting, and supporting value creation initiatives in line with PE ownership expectations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong qualified (ACCA/ACA) to join an evolving team in a growing business.

This role is based in our Birmingham city centre office with a hybrid workstyle.

What does the role entail?

Reporting to the Finance & Reporting Manager, and with the support of an Assistant Management Accountant, the role will include the following responsibilities:

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
  • Own balance sheet reconciliations and ensure robust financial controls across all legal entities
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes to tight deadlines
  • Produce monthly analysis, including departmental and service line reporting and variance analysis
  • Support with the budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Assist with statutory accounts preparation and audit coordination
  • VAT, PAYE & Corporation Tax Compliance
  • Support with the delivery of the annual audit and preparation of annual Statutory Accounts

Private Equity & Stakeholder Support

  • Deliver reporting packs for the Board and private equity investors
  • Support financial analysis, KPIs, and performance tracking against budget and forecasts
  • Assist with transaction-related activity (acquisitions, integrations, disposals)
  • Support lender reporting and covenant compliance

Controls, Process & Systems

  • Strengthen financial controls, policies, and procedures in line with best practice
  • Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and scalability
  • Support finance systems implementations or enhancements
  • Assisting with integration of acquisitions, including alignment of financial systems and processes, and embedding into monthly reporting

Plus any other responsibilities as required to support the growth of the business and finance team.

What we’re looking for?

  • ACCA/ACA qualified
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
  • Previous experience owning the monthly accounts production process
  • Experience working with and consolidation of a multi-legal entity structure
  • Intermediate/Advanced excel skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Able to demonstrate strong team management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Experience with Sage Intacct is advantageous.
