Payroll Assistant

We are currently seeking a Payroll Assistant to provide operational support to deliver a professional HR service for Payroll and employee benefits. Acting as the first line support for Payroll queries and processing payrolls for a specific work area.

Key details:

  • Contract: Temporary
  • Duration: Initially 3 months
  • Location: Maidenhead
  • Pay rate: £15.66 per hour
  • Hours: 30 hours per week (ideally across Monday to Friday, hybrid working)
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Notice period: Maximum 1 week

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide basic payroll support to employees and managers, answering straightforward queries and referring more complex issues to senior team members.
  • Deliver a polite and helpful customer service experience across all communication channels (telephone, email, and face-to-face).
  • Assist in responding to payroll queries, ensuring they are handled promptly or passed to the appropriate colleague.
  • Support the payroll team with routine tasks such as data entry, checking employee details, and preparing information for payroll processing.
  • Help with monthly payroll activities by gathering and inputting data accurately and within deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, ensuring information is up to date and recorded correctly.
  • Follow established procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with payroll processes and data protection requirements.
  • Work as part of a team, supporting colleagues to ensure payroll deadlines are met.
  • Handle sensitive information carefully and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Take part in training and development to build knowledge of payroll systems, processes, and legislation.

Requirements:

  • Previous administration or clerical experience
  • Basic payroll knowledge
  • Experience with HR/payroll systems (iTrent) is desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication skills and strong English proficiency
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage priorities
  • Competent IT skills (Microsoft Office, especially Excel)
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
