Payroll Supervisor / Payroll Manager

Location : North West London

Salary: Circa £45-55k per annum

We’re recruiting for an experienced Payroll Supervisor / Payroll Manager to join a busy, fast-paced organisation and oversee the end-to-end payroll function. This is a hands-on role managing a team of 5 payroll professionals and supporting a high-volume payroll environment, ideally within retail or a similar sector.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll delivery across the business. This is both a strategic and operational role, requiring strong leadership, technical payroll expertise, and the ability to work under pressure in a high-volume setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Hands-on role, both overseeing and assisting with the full payroll process from start to finish
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 5 payroll staff
• Ensure payroll is delivered accurately and on time
• Handle escalations, complex payroll queries, and compliance issues
• Ensure all payroll processes meet HMRC, statutory, and company requirements
• Drive process improvements and efficiencies
• Work closely with HR and Finance teams

About You

• Proven experience in a Payroll Supervisor / Payroll Manager role
• Background in retail or other high-volume payroll environments
• Strong technical knowledge of UK payroll legislation
• Confident people manager with experience leading teams
• Organised, detail-focused, and calm under pressure
• Comfortable working to tight deadlines
