Job title: R&D Operative (Temporary Assignment)

Location: Bournville, Birmingham

Pay rate: £17.66 p/h

Contract: Temporary (12 weeks) via Randstad, with potential for future opportunities within

the manufacturing department.

Start Date: June 1st, 2026

Shifts: Monday to Friday, Day Shifts (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, flexibility required)


About the Role:


Randstad is recruiting for a temporary Research & Development (R&D) Operative in the Bournville site. This 12-week assignment offers a unique opportunity to work within the R&D department, supporting the development of some of the nation's favourite chocolate brands. This role involves hands-on product creation and requires a meticulous approach.


Please note: A Confidentiality Agreement must be signed prior to starting this role.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Hand moulding of shelled chocolate products (e.g., Oreo or Caramel bars).
  • Safe operation of low-hazard, low-complexity equipment.
  • Manual handling tasks, including the physical lifting and shifting of products and ingredients.
  • Applying Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) knowledge to ensure safety and quality standards.
  • Identifying and promptly reporting any inaccuracies or quality issues.
  • Maintaining a high level of attention to detail throughout all processes.



Requirements:


  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Physical capability to perform manual handling tasks, including lifting and shiftingproducts.
  • Competence in basic Literacy and Mathematics.
  • Ability to observe, notice, and report inaccuracies effectively.
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).


Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience in a culinary, catering, or pastry chef environment is highly advantageous, though not essential.
  • Experience operating LLOP (Low Level Order Picker) trucks is a plus, but full training will be provided for all aspects of the role.
