Interim Senior Payroll Officer (1–3 months)
Location: Stratford-upon-Avon (hybrid working available)
Contract: Interim (1–3 months)

A well-established organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to support their finance team during a busy period. This is a fast-paced, complex payroll environment, and you will play a key role in ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time, and in full compliance with statutory requirements.

The Role

You will take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing across multiple payrolls, working closely with HR and Finance to maintain accurate data and ensure smooth payroll operations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Processing multiple weekly and monthly payrolls within a complex, multi-payroll environment
• Managing starters, leavers, and contractual changes with accuracy
• Calculating statutory payments including PAYE, NI, and other deductions
• Preparing and submitting RTI and BACS files
• Administering pension schemes, including uploads, reconciliations, and opt-outs
• Resolving payroll queries from employees and stakeholders promptly and professionally
• Producing payroll reports and supporting audit processes
• Completing reconciliations, journals, and supporting wider finance processes
• Identifying and implementing process improvements where possible

About You

You will be an experienced payroll professional who can quickly add value in an interim capacity.

Key requirements:

• Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll in a multi-payroll environment
• Strong understanding of HMRC legislation (PAYE and NI)
• Ability to manually calculate payroll elements where required
• Experience with payroll and HR systems (e.g. integrated platforms)
• Strong Excel skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
• Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
