Salary: £30,842.86 – £32,088.91 (based on a 35-hour week)

An established, high-quality nursery in Reading is seeking an experienced and passionate Room Leader to join its dedicated Early Years team.

Set within a beautiful campus environment, this purpose-built nursery provides care for children aged 3 months to 5 years and is known for its strong values, inclusive ethos and commitment to outstanding childcare.

The Role

As Room Leader, you will work closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure the effective day-to-day running of your room, maintaining the highest standards of care, learning, safeguarding and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading, guiding and motivating a team of childcare practitioners
• Creating a safe, welcoming and stimulating learning environment
• Supporting children’s learning and development in line with the EYFS
• Playing a key role in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
• Building positive, professional relationships with parents and carers
• Leading on behaviour management, safeguarding, health & safety and first aid within your room

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility, thrives in a leadership position and wants to make a meaningful impact on children’s early years.

About You

Essential requirements:

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Childcare
• Experience working in an Early Years setting
• Strong understanding of the EYFS, child development and safeguarding
• Previous experience leading or supervising a team
• Confident communicator with parents and professionals
• Enhanced DBS and two suitable references

Desirable:

• Paediatric First Aid qualification
• Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate
