Technical Business Development Manager

Location: Cheltenham, on-site

Salary: £45,000 – £65,000 depending on experience

We are seeking a commercially-minded Technical Business Development Manager to develop new business services, drive growth and expand our market presence. This is not just a sales role; it is a consultative position that requires a deep understanding of our technical capabilities and the ability to translate complex solutions into high-value business outcomes for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake greenfield business development to monetise existing capabilities within the company in the BESS and new energy infrastructure sector.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, conducting technical presentations and demonstrations to C-suite executives and engineering teams.
  • Manage a robust services pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and lead tracking.
  • Manage marketing strategy and implement slick and effective presentations.
  • Work closely with our internal technical teams to tailor bespoke solutions that solve specific client pain points.
  • Build long-term, strategic partnerships rather than one-off transactions.
  • Track market dynamics and structural changes of the BESS sector, and keep senior management team fully informed of potential risks and opportunities, to help optimise the company’s business services strategy.
  • Generate revenue through winning and retaining service contracts.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • A proven track record in B2B technical sales. You are comfortable onboarding technical information, and discussing technical services, SCADA systems, Asset Optimisation services etc.
  • At least 3 years of experience in B2B business development with a history of hitting and exceeding targets.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and use it to build a compelling commercial case for the client.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to simplify complex technical jargon for non-technical stakeholders.
  • A degree in a STEM subject from a UK university.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, EPC Contracts and Project Management is a bonus
  • Understanding of the UK/EU Energy Market Sector (e.g. renewables, energy project construction, BESS, Balancing Mechanism, Ancillary Services) is desirable
