SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH)

Chatham | 08:15am–3:30pm | Full-Time

Do you have the resilience, empathy and passion to change young lives?

We are looking for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school within a supportive Multi-Academy Trust. Our pupils have EHCPs, complex needs and often a disrupted educational journey — but with the right support, they can and do succeed.

With small classes, strong leadership and a dedicated team, you’ll play a crucial role in helping students re-engage with learning, build positive relationships and make meaningful life changes.

Your Impact

  • Support learners 1:1, 1:2:1 and in small groups, in and out of the classroom
  • Deliver targeted intervention work and support access to learning
  • Assist with lesson planning and resource preparation
  • Help students manage behaviour, take responsibility and understand choices
  • Promote tolerance, respect and emotional regulation
  • Work closely with staff, parents, carers and external professionals

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs or in a similar setting
  • Understanding of challenging behaviour and disrupted education
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A team player who puts students at the heart of everything they do
