Interim Head of Industrial Relations - Temp to Perm - London Hybrid

Experienced Industrial Relations Consultant to advise and support a complex organisation operating within a highly unionised and regulated environment.This role is suited to a seasoned IR professional with strong technical knowledge, sound judgement, and the ability to operate discreetly at senior levels during periods of change, negotiation, or heightened industrial activity.Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on industrial relations strategy, employee relations risk, and union engagement
• Lead or support collective bargaining, consultation exercises, and negotiations with recognised trade unions
• Advise on dispute resolution, industrial action preparedness, and contingency planning
• Ensure organisational approach aligns with relevant employment legislation, agreements, and best practice
• Support senior leaders with briefing materials, messaging, and stakeholder strategy
• Partner with HR, legal, and operational leaders on complex ER and IR matters
• Promote constructive workforce relationships while protecting organisational objectives

Candidate Profile

• Significant experience in industrial relations, employee relations, or trade union engagement
• Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and collective frameworks
• Proven track record of managing union relationships and negotiations
• Credible at executive and board level, with excellent influencing skills
• Calm, pragmatic, and resilient under pressure
• High standards of professionalism and discretion
• Consulting, interim, or advisory experience is highly desirable

You will be able to start a new role immediately and commit to working in a hybrid manner from the London office. For the right person this will become a permanent role.
