Reed Education is proud to be working in partnership with a warm and inclusive primary school in the Pontefract area of Wakefield to recruit an experienced Year 1 Teacher for a full-time, long-term position, starting as soon as possible.

This role is ideal for a teacher who is confident in early Key Stage 1 and passionate about supporting children as they transition from EYFS into more structured learning.

The Opportunity

• Teaching a Year 1 class, with full responsibility for planning, teaching, assessment and classroom organisation
• Delivering engaging, well-structured lessons that build strong foundations in phonics, reading, writing and maths
• Supporting pupils socially and emotionally during a key transition year
• Creating a nurturing, well-managed learning environment with clear routines
• Working closely with teaching assistants and the wider KS1 team

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification
• Proven experience teaching in Key Stage 1, with Year 1 experience highly desirable
• Strong understanding of phonics and early learning strategies
• A calm, patient and enthusiastic teaching approach
• Reliable, professional and available to start ASAP or at very short notice
