Payroll Team Lead

Location: Chard
Salary: £40,000
Working pattern: Full time or part time considered
Working style: Office based initially with hybrid working available after 6 months

We are currently working with a well-established organisation who are looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Team Lead to join their payroll function. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to combine hands on payroll with people management and future project exposure.

This role will be ideal for someone who has a solid understanding of end to end payroll process and has previous line management experience. This experience could be within payroll or a generalised finance environment. You will have great soft skills and the capability to develop and motivate a team.

The role

Reporting into the Payroll Manager, you will manage a payroll team of around 10 payroll professionals alongside another Team Lead.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting, coaching and developing team members

• Ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing

• Acting as a point of escalation for payroll queries

• Working closely with the wider payroll leadership team

• Gaining exposure to payroll projects over the next 12 months, including process and systems improvements

• Supporting continuous improvement across the payroll function

About you

• Strong end to end payroll knowledge

• Proven line management or team leadership experience, within payroll, finance, HR or a general office environment

• Confident supporting and motivating a payroll team in a busy environment

• Comfortable working with change and improvement initiatives

• Project experience desirable but not essential
