About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and confident Cover Supervisor to join a supportive secondary school in Reading. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals considering a career in teaching or those with experience working with young people.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning in the absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged and on task.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes during teacher absences, delivering pre-set work
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
• Ensure a positive and productive learning environment
• Support students in completing tasks and understanding instructions
• Report back on pupil progress and behaviour
• Contribute to the wider school community where appropriate

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Experience working with young people (school-based or similar)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence managing groups of students
• A calm, proactive, and flexible approach
• A genuine interest in education
• A degree (desirable but not essential)
