Senior Research Technician / Lab Technician - Contract

Role details:

• Start date: ASAP
• Contract: minimum 6 months (highly likely to be extended)
• Hourly rate: opened to conversations
• Location: Coventry; on-site laboratory environment
• Hours: 36.5 hours a week
• Work pattern: 9-5 Mon-Fri - ideally

Key responsibilities:

• Provide technical support, guidance and skills training to academic staff and postgraduate researchers
• Support research projects through specialist laboratory techniques and safe working practices
• Manage the day-to-day operation, organisation and upkeep of designated laboratories
• Maintain, calibrate and oversee the safe use of analytical instrumentation
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations including COSHH and related legislation

Skills and experience required:

• Degree (or equivalent experience) in analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis or a related discipline
• Knowledge of mass spectrometry and liquid and gas chromatography techniques - MANDATORY
• Hands-on experience supporting research or commercial chemistry laboratories - MANDATORY 
• Strong knowledge of analytical instrumentation (e.g. HRAM uHPLC-MS, GC-MS, Orbitrap, Py-GC-MS)
• Experience with sample preparation, data processing software and technical documentation
• Demonstrable health and safety compliance and ability to train and support others
