We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Norwich, supporting pupils with complex needs, including PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties).

Working Pattern: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and a multidisciplinary team to support pupils with a wide range of complex learning, physical, and communication needs. The role will involve providing both academic support and personal care, ensuring every pupil can access learning in a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with PMLD/SLD in a small, specialist class setting
  • Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility where required
  • Help deliver tailored learning activities in line with EHCPs
  • Support communication using alternative methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS, sensory approaches – training can be provided)
  • Promote a calm, structured, and positive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs (PMLD/SLD experience desirable but not essential)
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Comfortable supporting with personal care
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs
