Are you an experienced Construction educator ready to step into a leadership role? We’re seeking a dynamic Assistant Head of Department to support the delivery and growth of Multi-Skills & Trowel Trades provision across a thriving Construction department.
The Role
You’ll play a key leadership role in supporting the Head of Department to drive quality, performance and student outcomes across Study Programmes, Apprenticeships and Adult provision. Managing staff, resources and curriculum delivery, you’ll help create an outstanding learning environment that enables all students to succeed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting day-to-day delivery across Multi-Skills & Trowel Trades
- Leading on timetable planning and curriculum coordination
- Driving attendance, achievement and positive learner behaviour
- Monitoring performance and implementing quality improvements
- Line managing and supporting teaching staff, including appraisals and development
- Building strong industry links to enhance curriculum relevance and opportunities
- Supporting recruitment, enrolment and promotional activity
What We’re Looking For
You’ll be a motivated and confident leader with a strong background in Further Education and Construction delivery.
Essential:
- Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE/CertEd/DET)
- Recent teaching experience in Further Education
- Strong industry knowledge within construction trades
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop staff
- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
- Experience supervising or leading teams
- Assessor/IQA qualifications
- Construction-related qualification
